High Cholesterol at Whataburger

Calorie intake is the main concern for people with high cholesterol while dining at a fast-food restaurant like Whataburger. Well, you can always try the Lighter & Smaller options from the menu to cut down your fat intake. Opting for grilled sandwich or burgers are preferred compared to double meat or triple meat cheesy burgers which contain high cholesterol.

Whatacatch Dinner may sound tempting but the famous fish sandwich is also full of calories and unhealthy fat. Voted to have the best burgers in Lake Tahoe, I knew the burger beast in me had to give it a try. ---The Food--- Hangover Helper ($7.25)- The name made me gravitate to this burger, but the contents were underwhelming, as well as the taste. It contains a 1/2 lb hand-formed patty, mayo, fresh lettuce, tomato, topped with bacon, cheddar cheese, and egg. Visibly, the burger looked perfect and could belong on a burger magazine. The char on the patty was beautiful, but was heavily under seasoned. The crispy bacon and yolky egg did little to help with that. At many points, I added more ketchup/mustard to compensate. The only positive thing I'd say is the size for they're bigger than your average burger. Smokehouse ($7.15)- At first glance, this burger seemed to lack the appeal of an enjoyable burger as it looked flat and boring, but was much tastier than the item above. It comes with a 1/2 lb patty, lettuce, tomato, bacon, cheddar, grilled onions, and homemade bbq sauce. The sauce is generously spread on the burger, masking the lightly seasoned patty, making each bite a pleasant mess. Fries ($3.95)- The best thing on the menu. An order can easily be shared amongst two to three people. They were piping hot, crispy and fresh to the taste. ---- Conclusion: 3.5 Stars. If Burger Lounge is the best in Lake Tahoe, I'm reluctant to try any other burger joints around the Lake. It's not a terrible spot to indulge and will likely satisfy any famished hiker, but I left mildly disappointed and wanting more flavor. While I did admire the many and reasonably priced burger options, more focus should be directed in seasoning. Extra Notes: -Accepts credit card -Kind, suggestive service and pet-friendly -Decor indoors follows a cabin theme -Burgers take some time to be made -Inside and outside seating available -Parking can be crowded -Restrooms could be cleaner

Burger Lounge was a great find with the Yelp app on our family vacation! The whole fam was pretty hungry after doing quite a bit of climbing, hiking and sightseeing. I busted out my app and came across Burger Lounge, which wasn't far from where we were located. We hightailed it over there and got in line - this place is pretty popular! The menu is filled with burgers, chicken sandwiches and salads, all with varied and interesting toppings and sauces. Once our orders were placed the wait for food wasn't too long. There's not a ton of seating on the patio but there are a bunch of picnic tables in the area behind the restaurant. My grilled chicken sandwich with mozzarella and pesto was good but could have used a little kick or something - not sure what, though. The pesto fries on the side were delicious. Go with the non-creamy pesto for sure. The whole crew was pleased overall with the meal and I would recommend it for a group.

Well...this is the best burger joint in the Tahoe Area...with two older boys...we tried more than our share. If you like garlic..their fries will change your life. If you just like a great burger and AMAZING sweet potato fries...they too...will change your life. Don't keep driving around for food...just come here and be happy.

Bring your big boy appetite! I always love a good burger and I definitely had one here! The smokehouse burger has bacon, cheddar, grilled onions, and barbecue sauce. This is not a burger you can eat delicately but really, any good burger isn't! Expect sauce on your face, juice down your arm, and a full belly to be the result of consuming this delicious beast! You will enjoy every juicy bite. The best friend of this burger? It's not french fries though the pesto fries were yummy. I always love a good milkshake with my burger. This milkshake was fantastic. I ordered a blackberry milkshake which has real, fresh blackberries muddled inside of it. Nice, rich, and plenty thick it was the perfect BFF for that bad boy burger. This little shack on the side of the road is small with only a handful of tables inside but when in Tahoe, get outside and enjoy the weather! There are double the amount of tables outside plus they all have huge umbrellas to protect my casper white skin from the sun while still allowing me the pleasure of enjoying the wonderful garden of flowers they have out front. In the back there are a handful of picnic tables shaded by the trees, another perfect place to eat. Overall, a fantastic burger experience and I will definitely be back again soon!

A beautiful day in South Lake and i'm craving a burger. Several spots popped up and this one had caught my eye when I drove past previously we went for this one. I drove the motorcycle up so I was a tad worried about the parking area as it looked quite crowded and people were parking on a dirt / bark area. Luckily we found a spot in the shade for both bikes on the paved lot area. The place was packed and the line was out the door. This worked well because it gave us time to read over the menu. I settled on the La Pina - a burger with a slice of pineapple for a bit of sweetness. We also decided to get two baskets of fries for the table - 1 pesto and 1 garlic. The line was long but they helped everyone quickly and the line moved fast. When we ordered the woman at the counter was quite patients as we were not fully settled and decided. After ordering I waited at the window for the drinks - including a freshly blended Blackberry milkshake. I took the drinks our table outside. We had plenty of seating options but it was a gorgeous day so we opted to dine outside. There were plenty of umbrellas providing shade. Had we wanted to sit inside there were several tables also. The inside tables were not well suited or groups our size, 4, or larger. A party of two perhaps would be well accommodated. Our food was delivered quickly despite the crowd. The burger was delicious - moist, flavorful and not greasy. The pineapple added the perfect crisp. The fries were outrageous - the garlic especially - covered in garlic oil and garlic chunks. Perfect for a garlic lover like myself. The pesto was nice but the garlic stole the show. Each of us enjoyed our burger choice and no fries were left at the end of the meal. We were stuffed, happy and ready to take our ride back home. This is a must stop in the area. Do not try any other burger spot. Eat here! Grab fries and a milkshake even if you aren't hungry enough for a burger.

After spending the day at nearby Pope Beach, we decided on Burger Lounge for dinner. While the rest of our party was able to dine there, we took our food to go since the Little Guy and Little Gal were fast asleep. With such a long line, we called in our order. They told us it would be ready in about fifteen minutes. The Husband picked up the Peppermint milkshake ($4.85 large) first. It was alright, not as pepperminty as I would have hoped for. I also didn't see any peppermint bits in my white shake as I noted in yelper photos, which may explain why mine was lacking. (We did hear raving reviews for the Nutella milkshake and the Passionfruit one.) The Husband ordered the Jiffy Burger ($7.35). It's the regular burger topped with cheddar, creamy chipotle mayo, and of course, peanut butter. He enjoys a good burger and his share of peanut butter, but this burger just wasn't that spectacular for him. It was just too much peanut butter. I ordered the Alaskan Delight sandwich ($7.65), which is a salmon burger with grilled onions and chipotle mayo. I also ordered the Bella sandwich ($7.65), which had a portabella mushroom, creamy pesto, grilled onions, and mozzarella on it. After reading a few reviews, I was concerned with these burgers being dry. As a result, we requested more sauce. It would have been nice to know that we got charged fifty cents extra for each additional sauce. Our biggest pet peeve about these burgers was the bread to meat/fish/mushroom ratio. There is a lot of bread to these burgers making them initially look huge. But when you take a bite, you realize there's an excessive amount of bread. Besides the bread issue, I thought my burgers were just okay. We also ordered the Pesto fries ($4.50) and the Zucchini ($5.25). The fries are a generous amount, and the pesto tasted yummy. However, there wasn't enough pesto for the amount of fries. Looking at some of the pictures posted, we only had a fraction of the amount of pesto. So that was disappointing. Maybe I should have gone for creamy pesto instead. The zucchini was average, no flavor in the batter so using the dipping sauce is necessary. Overall, a 3 star food experience. We just weren't blown away as we had hoped and expected. I'd be willing to return to check out their other milkshakes and maybe the pesto fries if they were a bit more heavy-handed with the pesto on my order. We'd skip ordering any burgers or sandwiches though.

Great "wild bird" chicken sandwich! Beware one order if fries can feed about 3-4 people. Love sitting out in the sun enjoying the food! Bacon, avocado burger was juicy and delicious!

Although the I ordered the "Pollo pina" (chicken pineapple) and received the "la pina" (apparently burger and pineapple) it was pretty good. I'll have to use my imagination for the pollo pina. My guy got "the Chooch" (no translation) a smothered hotdog that was lackluster at best. My expectations set the bar too high for the Burger Lounge to meet. Perhaps another time???

It had been several years since I had eaten here. I remember great burgers and the cheese fries. However, while taking my family up to the lake before the end of summer I had quite a different experience. The shoestring fries were average. It was the burger that had me disappointed, all four of us in our family like our burgers medium, juicy with pink in the middle. We made sure to tell the woman who took our order that we wanted medium, "pink in the middle" to reiterate, however upon being served the burgers were overcooked and very much well done. Aside from that there was nothing special that separates this burger from anything stellar. Sad to say I will not be coming back here the next time we are in Lake Tahoe.

Great spot to grab a quick bite to enjoy outside at picnic tables in the back or bistro tables in the front. Burgers are really tasty - freshly made patties that are thin so you can enjoy all the toppings. From simple burger with tomato and lettuce to one loaded with bbq sauce, onions, cheddar and bacon you can find whatever suits your fancy. Chicken sandwiches and hot dogs are available, as are veggie burgers for the meat-free. They come out wrapped in paper to help you keep your hands clean.

My boyfriend and I were visiting from Tahoe and we decided to try this place based on the reviews and the pictures on Yelp. I'm glad we stopped by because everything from the service to the burgers and shakes were magnificent! I ordered the cheeseburger and my boyfriend ordered the burger with the bbq sauce and they were both so delicious! They were freshly made and the burgers itself were big! Everything from the soft bread to the fresh lettuce complimented each other. We got an order of the original pesto fries and they were different but in a good way. Next time when we're in Tahoe I want to try the creamy pesto fries. We also ordered a chocolate shake and a cream de mint shake with chocolate and it was one of the best shakes ever! They were really made with ice cream so you can't beat that. One thing that really brought us to eat here is that they have an out door patio area where you can enjoy your food with your dog outside! If you enjoy eating lunch/dinner with your dog by your side then this is the place!

Again, fantastic food. I ordered the Heavenly Burger (3 cheeses) and my son ordered a cheeseburger with bacon. My son and I both are every bite. Yummy! We also ordered the Cajun Fries. They were fantastic. We wanted ranch with them but didn't ask until after we paid for the meal. They wanted .50 per ranch for the fries. We declined as I had no cash and paid for the meal via debit card. I would have given the extra star had the service been exceptional. The counter service wasn't great at all, no smile, but the girls that delivered the burgers to my table were really nice. I'll be back!

Solid 4 stars. Came at 1pm on a Sunday. The place was busy. They had a consistent line of people waiting to order. You order at the counter, give them your name, have a seat and they'll bring the food to your table. We had the heavenly burger, the smokehouse burger, Cajun fries and original pesto fries. Ordering was fast and paying was fast too, they use something akin to a square for CC payments. There are only a few tables inside and several outside. Didn't seem anyone had trouble getting a table even though they had a line. It started raining and people managed to still eat outside since they have many umbrellas over the tables. They had tiny bathrooms outside, they were a bit dirty. The food was good. Big sized burgers. Meat not dry. Pesto fries great. Cons: 1. The avocado was not ripe, it was practically crunchy in some pieces. 2. Cajun fries are good but nothing spectacular, pesto fries better and much more "special" 3. No refills on soda (a large soda was the size of medium anywhere else) 4. Side of ranch/bbq/whatever costs $0.50

It's peanut butter jelly time, peanut butter jelly tiiime There are perhaps dozens of burger places in South Lake Tahoe, with too many suspiciously hanging signs claiming to be the best in town. With competition like this, how do you stand out? Burger lounge's solution seems to be to have a wide variety of interesting burgers, ranging from the tasty hangover helper (with fried egg!) to pulled pork (quote my friend JP: "this sandwich is my favorite right now" to which we replied "favorite what? pork sandwich ever or just best part of the day?" and he replied mysteriously "it just is"). I had the JIffy burger which has peanut butter. It was interesting, but made the burger overall very thirst inducing. Perhaps they should put some jelly in too. I'd be so down. Anyways, if you're all the way out here in Tahoe may as well get the Jiffy burger, it's probably the most unusual one they have Also useful to know nice outdoor patio, clean restrooms, and relatively fast service

Drove by here during our family's stay in South Lake Tahoe and came back--twice!--for lunch on consecutive days. *Great* chargrilled big burgers! Yum! The Heavenly: cheese, avocado, and bacon. Our daughters loved it. The Bleu Moo (ask them to substitute the red onion with grilled onions), with the bleu cheese slather was amazing. Pesto fries were delicious. Our son loved their corn dogs, too. Great little patio area in front, but we chose both times to sit out back under the trees at their picnic tables (sort of hidden behind the back parking lot, and unlike the front patio, not crowded at all). If you want a solid, hearty, delicious burger at a pleasant and friendly local place, then come here. Delicious!

We were in the mood for some burgers so decided to check this place out since it got good reviews and a decent amount of stars. By the time we actually arrived I was starving and couldn't wait to scarf down the food. I ordered the Smothered Turkey Burger which was a burger (I asked to sub for turkey) with melted cheese, grilled onions, avocado, lettuce, tomato, and mayo. It was really good and I think I ate it in about 5 bites. My husband ordered the Hangover Helper - put a fried egg on anything and it is bomb. I think he also ate his in about 5 bites. We also shared the pesto fries because everyone on Yelp was raving about them. We thought they were good. They had the right amount of pesto so that the fries weren't too rich. I am not sure if I would order them again because I want to try the onion rings. Another table near us ordered onion rings and they looked so deliciously crispy and golden brown. We are definitely planning to go back to try the other options on the massive menu. And, to give those onion rings a shot.

I have been coming here since it opened. I was proud to have a good grease spot near me. A little on the expensive side, but I'll pay for quality. $7.25 for the heavenly burger is not as bad as the $14. burgers I see @ Beach House Grill, Lucky Beaver Bar and Grill,... . I would actually bring friends and clients here. Not anymore. I have given this place numerous chances in the last 9 months.. ...'bout 8 months ago, I ordered the heavenly burger, fries and shake for takeout. I get home and notice the overly charred burger, awww, but I eat it, and near the end, I bite into what I felt like a small pebble, a piece of char that cracked my tooth... ...sooo, I don't go for awhile, 'bout 4 months alright, I won't order a burger this time, I'll get the camino bird, fries, shake, and it was cooked fine, but in one of my last bites, I find a small piece of wire, in hook form, wtf? Ok, so maybe I headed too many soccer balls back in the day, on Tuesday I was in the area, one more chance. I was brave and ordered the heavenly, 1/2 order of garlic fries and chocolate shake. When it came on the tin pans, I laughed, because I didn't see any meat. Where's the beef? 1/2 lb. of meat was not in this burger, their website has photos of meat sticking out of the bun. Another reviewer said 1/4" thick, that is generous. Even another reviewer mentioned patty(60%) to bun(100%)/lettuce(130%) ratio is lacking. I saw a big oversize bun with lettuce sticking out an inch all around the bun. Where's the beef? So, I open the bun and find one piece of bacon, one small slice of avocado and what I am going to call the 'crisp disc'. Almost slider size. Hiding under the lettuce blanket. The bun tastes good, they do use quality lettuce and a tomato slice. A full order of fries can feed 4 people, I received a handful of fries with very little garlic. Limp, soggy, no color, undercooked fries. The shake was good, but since we're complaining, could have had more chocolate, maybe even with a brown color. An hour later, I had the worst tummy ache, like someone punched me in the gut, it did not pass through my system very kindly. When you go out to eat, it should not feel like you were in a fight. Cracked tooth, almost hooked and doubled over, no thanks. Sorry to see the new owners dropping the ball in quality and consistency.

My wife and I just stopped at this place because we were curious and hungry. Had never heard of the joint, but we were in the mood for a burger. Saw the sign, and the smoke flying from the chimney, and said what the heck; I'm so glad we did! The menu was a bit intimidating because there was so much to choose from. We finally settled on what we wanted, and the service was quick. These burgers are huge!! If you're not a big eater, and you have someone with you, it might be a good idea to split the burger in half. One of the best burgers I've ever had!! So juicy and fresh OMG!!! Flavor amazing!!! Sweet potato fries off the chain good! Definitely coming back to this little gem in the mountains of South Lake Tahoe!

My husband used to live here and we come to Lake Tahoe quite often and he had been raving about Burger Lounge. They are under new owners (I think) and I'm hoping this is the reason for the poor service. We knew what we were going to order before we got there so when we did order, it was very matter of fact. The Dirty Cooch, Nacho Cheese Fries, Camino Bird, a chocolate shake, and a Pepsi. The person taking our order seemed distracted and even asked me to repeat it. We paid, sat down with our drinks and promptly got our food. No fries though. We told our server we ordered Nacho Cheese Fries and she said it wasn't on the ticket. We reiterated that we told the first woman that we wanted an order of Nacho Cheese Fries. Essentially that was the third time we ordered them. Five minutes later she comes out with plain fries. We said, "oh no, we ordered nacho cheese fries" and she said "those are garlic fries, no charge." ...?!?! We stared at her and she said "should I take them back?" She did take them back and came back out with a receipt that showed no order of Nacho Cheese Fries. At that point we said screw it. I had already eaten half the paper that was served under my chili cheese dog (Dirty Cooch) because it all melted together and became one and I had had enough. THANKS FOR HALF OUR ORDER AND A PAPER CHILI CHEESE DOG. The shake was good.

We arrived around 1:00 and there was a line of about 7 people. While waiting, I asked a girl who was finishing up her burger if it was good and she emphatically said yes, but it was a lot! She said it was as big as my head! I was hungry and up for the challenge! I ordered the heavenly burger, and would highly recommend it. Bacon and avocado... What else do you need on a burger? The portions were big, we tried the garlic fries, fried mushrooms, and fried zucchini, we shared it all and all was good! I liked the sauce they served with the fried stuff. My wife ate about half her burger ever and was stuffed My three teens had the Heavenly, a BLT and a chicken burger, and ate them all up!

Really good burgers. I wouldn't recommend their garlic fries to anyone though. They do use fresh garlic, which is delicious but the fries themselves are a little dinky. If your in Tahoe definitely try this place out. Had one of the best vegetarian burgers ever!

I've eaten at many, many burger joints (chains and small family owned shops) before and I have to say, this one takes the cake (or the burger). I stumbled upon this little family owned burger shop due to my tendency to try "gourmet" burger restaurants specific to the town I'm visiting. Shops like these make my burger seeking adventures worth it. I ordered the hangover helper, not due to having a hangover as I don't drink, but due to having a weird obsession of eggs in my burger, which has never led me wrong as my brother tried to swap his burger with mine. The egg was cooked over easy and had just the right amount of gooeyness. As I bit into the burger, the yolk would ooze out and cover the area that my previous bite had exposed, making the next mouthful a delightful mix of tomato, lettuce, meat, fried egg and warm yolk. The other ingredients also tasted fresh and didn't detract from the experience: the lettuce was crispy and moist, the tomato was juicy and sweet, and the bread was soft and warm. The only minor flaw was the meat as it was a bit overcooked (I don't remember being given the option to do medium rare as that's how I usually take my burger but that could have been my fault for not mentioning it). The service was also top-notch. The waiters were very friendly and consistently refilled our sweet tea without so much as a look of disgust for asking for multiple refills of their amazing sweet tea. They also gave us a free upgrade to pesto fries as my brother's gf saw the option of pesto fries after we got our food, which we really appreciate. Also their order of small fries equates to a supersize order of fries at McDonalds and taste so much better (both vanilla and pesto fries). Our overall experience was so good that my brother considered driving back to order the hangover helper five minutes after we left.

Burgers good size. Quick service. Indoor and outdoor seating. Portables mushroom was sooooo yummy. Nacho cheese fries devoured! All menu items ala carte but four of us are for under $55.

Burger Lounge has some of the best burgers in South Lake Tahoe. Their standard burger is 1/3 lb but they also have a cheeseburger that comes with bacon and a sausage link. The burger patty itself has a lot of flavor and the ratio of cheese is about right. They're located not directly in town but are still close enough to go get a delicious burger whenever you're in the area.

After reading the reviews on Yelp, we decided to try this place out. It's a small joint off the side of the road. If it wasn't for the giant bottle logo next to this place, you'd drive right by it. Nothing fancy, totally casual and a great menu with plenty for all food types. I got the Ortega Burger and my husband got the Smokehouse Burger. These burgers are huge- 1/2 lb to be exact. I contemplated getting the smaller size and regret it, because I hate to waste and couldn't finish it. We shared an order of Cajun fries which was simply their regular fries with Cajun seasoning sprinkled on. They weren't too spicy, but added a nice flavor to rather basic fries. A plate of fries easily serves 2-3 people. I also got the chocolate shake which was decent- nothing to brag about- a typical shake. Service is quick and friendly. Definitely worth the visit for a decent meal at good prices.

While I was so looking forward to eating here this past Saturday night it did not happen. We were in Tahoe and all day we were thinking about eating a good burger, so we drove about 20 minutes and arrived shortly before 7. There were closed signs in the window but people inside eating so we decided to try the door and it was open. Stood inside for about 5 minutes deciding what to order and then when we went up to the counter to order the girl said they were closed. I was confused because that same girl walked by us taking burgers to a table and at no time did she say anything. We left quite a bit pissed off and as we are outside looking for another place to eat we saw people going in to pick up food. We decided to call and the girl said they decided to close early due to slow business. Weird because the parking lot had several cars in it and people came after us. May try it again in the future but I saw other reviews where people said they went and it was closed. So...who knows!

Great burgers at good prices. Don't be fooled by the simple exterior. Huge selection of burgers, with good quality ingredients & served quickly. Beef could have a bit more flavor if I were to be picky. I recommend the heavenly- it was exactly that.

If you are looking for a burger well this is the place to go.. just look at the name! However, there's really no place to lounge around, well maybe if the weather was better because when we went it was freeezing cold so no dining outside and it's soo cramped inside. It's more of a order and take home type of place. This place would be nice for spring/summer/fall probably so you can sit outside. Anyhow, on to the food. The burgers are a pretty decent/big size here and their meat seems fresh, flavorful and juicy. Definitely thumbs up!! I also tried their homemade chili with meat and it was good, it enjoyed that on a cold winter evening and it was perrfect! We also had the Messy fries which of course looked like a mess and not our favorite from there because their fries are okay, I personally like crispy, crunchy thin fries but theirs were soggy. FYI.. probably not good for late night because they closed at 7pm - that's early and when the partying starts... booo!!

Excellent burger and fries with a cold Pepsi! Great customer service. And they have tables on a patio and picnic tables behind their establishment under the wonderful trees!
